Notification of Emergency Drill Letter
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you about a new law recently enacted that will affect our school’s emergency preparedness procedures. As a part of the changes, districts are required to provide notification of upcoming safety drills to parents or caregivers within one week of the drill taking place.
What the New Law Entails:
Effective July 31, 2024 the new legislation requires schools to conduct drills each academic year. These drills will cover a range of scenarios, including fire, lockdown and other emergency situations. The goal is to ensure that students and staff are well-prepared and can respond quickly and effectively in the event of an emergency.
How This Affects Our School:
- Communication: We will notify you in advance about any planned drills that might affect your child’s school day. This will help you discuss the drills with your child and address any questions or concerns they might have.
- Support for Students: We understand that drills can sometimes be unsettling for students. Our staff handle these situations with sensitivity, ensuring that students feel safe and supported.
Your Role:
We encourage you to talk to your child about the importance of these drills and reassure them that they are designed to keep everyone safe. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Our primary goal is to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all our students. We appreciate your support and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Erin Peck
